Jonah is...

A MONSTER! This is a picture of Jo and Emily. Emily is the daughter of Dave's BFF, Nate. She was born last week at 5lbs and some. Look how tiny she is! When we held her it was like holding a nerf ball she is so light! Jonah was twice her size at BIRTH! Oh, we had his 4th month check up on Tuesday and is is official, he is a monster. He is now 17lbs 2ozs and 28 inches long. He is the average length of a nine month old and the weight of a six month old. He is massive. Now when ever we put him to sleep our arms go numb if it takes longer than 15-20 mins. He didn't give us time to beef up our biceps! He rolled over for the first time last wednesday, the 21st! He is growin' up. P.S. This outfit is a 6-9 mth outfit and it's still not long enough!
Christmas was wonderful. This is a picture of Jo with Davey-wavey at Big Dave's for Christmas. Jonah was wonderful that day! He took one really long nap in G-pa's bed before everyone came over and then fell asleep when everyone left! It was perfect!
Oh GOOD NEWS! Dave got promoted! He is now going to be working 7-3 shift! How exciting! Now he can be home to make me dinner. I've already done the switching around of classes and all that... Oh, and now that he gets off at three I can make it to most rowing practices!!! I'm way excited and so is he. We can actually live a normal life now! We can invite people over for dinner on another day but sunday or monday. okay, nappy time for Jo. I'll update this later.

Telephone

Do you remember the game Telephone? In the game the first person would start off with a phrase and pass it down the line. By the end of the line the phrase gets completely miscontrued and misunderstood. Well, that actually happened to me! As I was walking down the hall at church today, Scott Blackwelder stopped me and told me a crazy story! He said that last week when he was in San Diego on a business trip someone asked him if he knew a Mormon Girl who rowed for UC. He said, "Yeah, she's in my ward." They continued to tell him that they had read the story last year in the paper about the girl you sued her coach because of her religion and that somehow he had gotten her pregnant! Scott (as well as myself) was baffled at the story. He said, "Well, she's been married and in my ward for a few years now, so I don't think He got her pregnant." He didn't know about the claim I filed through the University, so I told him about it(link to that blog here).
Isn't that crazy?! So the claim that I filed apparently turned into a case against a coach that got me pregnant - clearly not the truth! I am hoping that this was just someone's interpretation and not what was ACTUALLY printed in the paper! And hopefully names were not added, because that would be completely embarassing! My, my, my. Interestingly enough the first time I have seen Tim since last spring was yesterday. On my way to clean the chapel yesterday morning he was on a run with Smokey. Crazy how things happen.
On a different note, Dave gets Monday (like always) and Wednesday off this week and is taking Thursday off for Christmas at Ma's house. He gets THREE days off this week and triple pay Saturday! He gets double time for working a holidays and anyone whoe works for any amount of time on a holiday gets an automatic 8 hours. I think that's how it worked out when I was there. Woo Hoo! I guess it makes up for him having to work over 60 hours this week.
I am off to go check the sales out at Meijer for coupon shopping!

This is his GGGOOOOOOO face

Mr. Fist'er

Jonah loves to lick, chomp, suck and taste his fists. His nickname of the week is Mr. Fist'er (hence the blog title). Picture is posted here of the tasting of baby fists.

I had my first experience with double coupons yesterday! Boy was it tough, especially with a wee one riding on my chest, crumpling up the coupons in my hands. So I spent about $34 on : 1 gal. Milk, 6 cans of Similac, 1 doz. eggs, 9 boxes of General Mills cereal, 1 bottle of tropical juice, 2 packages of applesauce, garbage bags, 1 Jumbo bag Luvs Diapers, 4 cans of Meijer soup, 1 bottle of Softsoap, 1 bottle Mrs. Dash Marinade, 1 bottle Garnier Fructis styling gel, 1 Complete Care toothpaste, 4 boxes of Taquitos, 2 boxes Uncle Ben's rice, 2boxes Huggies wash clothes, 2 bottles Huggies Skincare products, 1 box baby cereal. For a first Time couponer, That's a PRETTY GOOD DEAL! Again, DAN teach me! Teach me the art of couponing! I did the math, so it is roughly .83 cents an item! Well done, self, well done.

Yesterday Jonah weighed 16lbs 12ozs. That's right people. He is less than 3 pounds shy of doubling his birth weight AT 3 1/2 MONTHS! Might I mention that one week ago he weighed 15.4 pounds. The boy is gaining weight FAST! He is also SUPER huge. He can hardly fit in his car seat anymore length wise. Two Saturdays ago, Anne came over for dinner and Jonah was about half of Anne's length! I'll add the picture, just so you can see for yourself just how long he is! Man O man.

Well, I'm off to download pictures.

The Scroll of Life

Currently listening: RAY LAMONTAGNE - TROUBLE It's SO good. If you like Van Morrison, you'll love this!

I got to hear the story today of Dave's "Scroll of Life" that he wrote for Nate about 6 years ago. Nate FINALLY got to open that scroll today! Nate wa snot permitted to open the scroll until after he got married. I guess he found it the other day while looking through boxes of his old stuff. Apparently, Dave wrote the Scroll of Life for Nate during a World Civ. class - you can tell how much they paid attention. I'll drop a picture in of Nate, Eunice ( and the baby belly ) as well as their scroll of life. Unfortunately, Dave is not too good on predicting the future. He predicted they'd live in Wyoming, that Nate would be a doctor and that his wife would be blonde - OBVIOUSLY NOT!

I am going on my first coupon venture soon. The deal is 2 of $4 salad dressing. I have 20 coupons for 2 dollars off salad dressing and that = FREE! How sweet! Thanks to Dan for tuning me into another freebie this week! I'll be sure to take full advantage of that one. Oh, master of the coupon, please teach me all you know!

Tomorrow is Enrichment night. I can't forget to take veggies. I'm in charge of Green Beans. I'm not sure what the lesson is on but I'm sure it'll be good. So Sis. Chapin is having an open house for Eunice is this Saturday 3-6pm at their house so that people can meet her. I have spent a couple days with her now and she is AWESOME! She is planning on going completely natural for her labor. She is a brave woman. I think part of the reason why is culturally, she wouldn't feel right in a hospital. Of course she lived in civilization in Africa, but their hospitals are nothing like ours. I am planning a baby shower for her for the end of December. You wouldn't believe the things she was telling me about Africa! She thought it was wierd that we could leave our cars outside of a garage. In S.A. if you left you car out over night it wouldn't be there in the morning for sure! She also said that their back yards or closed in by walls so that it is harder for someone to break in. AH!

Also, the Ward's Christmas party is this Saturday at 6:30. I'm way exctied! Dave doesn't get to be there on account of work, which stinks. I get to bake 25 potatoes! Thank goodness Dave taught me how! Well, that's all for now.

A thousand miles...

Now listening: A Thousand miles - Michelle Branch.

I can now fit into 3, hear that, 3 pairs of my old pants. YES!

TO ALL: If anyone has any very petite winter clothes that aren't needed I am gathering some things for Nate's wife, Unis. This being her first winter, she doesn't have any winter clothes and the poor girl is prego! Nate said when they landed at CVG it was snowing and she had no idea what it was! I have gathered some things from my closet, but I'm a huge American and she is a very petite African so all I can give her are sweaters and jackets and hope she doesn't end up swimming in them.

OH, it's feeding time.

ZERO balance?

Well I have mentioned that the car broke down, I believe. Yes, well apparently not only was the timing belt broke, but the headgasket cracked, the thermostat exploded and NOW the radiator is leaking! I would be okay with this if only we hadn't paid off almost all of our hospital bills with our savings and if rent weren't due today. I am going to be brutally honest about the deplorable state our bank accounts are in. We currently have $203.13 in savings and $1,458.99 in checking. That equals $1,662.12 Our most important bills are Rent=$635 and car=$1,030, which equals $1,665. Minus what we owe from what we have = -2.88AHHH! Luckily, I have a check for $30 that I haven't put into the bank, which will make the balance $27.22. WOW. My bank account hasn't looked like that since freshman year! We have done so well at not asking parents for help and I don't think we're going to. Thank the Lord we have a little bit of food storage. Dangit. Should we hold off to pay the 39.60 for tithing this week? I think so! Dangit, what about fast offering? Oh, I don't know! Any advice - ANYONE?!

Well, Besides all that mess, Dave's BFF is coming home today from South Africa. He completed his full mission just before Thanksgiving last year. But after being home for two weeks he flew back to S.A. to marry the Princess of a tribe that he taught the gospel! How sweet. Well, they got married because it was going to take forever to get her Visa to come into the country. Well once they got married, they figured out that they needed a marriage Visa. BUT WAIT! She got pregnant! SO then she had to be cleared to fly during her pregnancy. Now, Doctor's check up's are hard to come by in South Africa. So she is due January 1st and they're getting here today DEC. 1st. How luck are they. Apparently, this was the last day she was allowed to fly! So he spent 11 months there and he is finally coming home. I am worried for them because he has alreadly accumulated massive debt from his trip back to Africa, now he is back in America with a prego wifey with no insurance for the hospital bills for the soon to come baby! OH NO! I don't know what we would have done had we not had insurance. And we have really good insurance! I hope that everything turns out for them okay...

Well, Jonah has been sleeping for awhile now - 4 hours! Time to go check on him or the millionth time to see if he's still breathing. Oh, even the quiet moments a mom has can't be in peace. The stillness scares us!
